King - The Owl House Crochet Pattern

Picture of King The Owl House crochet pattern

I am a BIG cartoon fan, and so naturally I’ve been following The Owl House since its release! If you haven’t watched this show then I absolutely recommend it, especially if you’re a cartoon lover like me. I love it so much that I just had to crochet one of my favourite characters – King. I think he looks so cute sleeping in the show, and I really wanted to replicate that pose in my crochet. Overall he turned out really well, and I’ve definitely enjoyed having him with me as a little friend sleeping on the table next to my bed! So without further ado, here is my King The Owl House crochet pattern so you can make your own sleepy little guy at home too! If you enjoy this pattern, consider following my Twitter and Instagram where I’m always making lots of new crochet friends!

King The owl house Crochet Pattern Assembly and Needle Felting

Firstly, slide the skull piece onto the head and sew it on securely. To do this I will use a running stitch underneath the edge of the skull using its loose end in the same colour so that the sewing stitches don’t show.

Next up, attach the horns and muzzle. The muzzle placement should be in between the two small dips in the skull that you should have made using the sl sts from the last few rounds.

Now sew on the muzzle horn pieces and the big and small head fluff pieces. The muzzle horns are fairly easy to place but the head fluff might be a little more complicated – use the pictures below for reference if needed! I place the large fluff about 4-5 sts away from the sl st dips in the skull, and then sew on the small head fluff piece afterwards diagonally to the big piece.

Now all of the head pieces are together, it’s time to attach the body! From here onwards pinning your plush together becomes extremely helpful, so make sure you have lots of pins to hand! I usually pin all the limbs on at this point to make sure I judge the body positioning properly, before taking everything back off apart from the body so I can sew it in place.

Next come the arms! Again, pinning is super helpful here. First, attach the short arm at the front of the body and the long arm at the back. I will then usually follow the arm along and pop in a few stitches attaching the arm to the underside of the head, just to shape the curve of the arm a little better.

I then pin on the leg and tail together, just to visualise the positioning with the space I have left. Once I’m happy, I’ll take the tail off and sew on the leg. This leg is sewn on at a bit of an awkward angle, so take your time here! Then, you can pin your tail back on and sew it on, gently shaping it with your hands in order to give it that slight curl around the leg/body.

If you’ve made it this far, congratulations!! You’re nearly there! The only thing left to do is attach the nails to his arms and foot, which is comparatively simple to the rest of the body! I usually do the arms first, pinning in place as I go to make sure I like the positioning, and then move onto the leg.

If you’re unfamiliar with needle felting, you can always make these details by cutting out pieces of felt and sewing or gluing them on instead! I’ll try my best to walk you through the steps I usually take below. Let’s start with the small circle on the leg first using your light grey wool roving. Next up, the nose. This is a sweet little heart shape using black wool roving! I usually shape one side and then make the other side, continually checking that both sides match.

Now, using your white rool roving, felt the small teeth onto the sides of the skull. The positioning for this shouldn’t be too bad, and you can always refer back to an original photo of King for reference, plus my photo below!

Nearly there! Time for the eyes. First, create two big black circles using your wool roving. They should be roughly 4 sts apart. Use the photos below for reference!

Using yellow wool roving, the last step is to shape his little closed eyes by creating a soft ‘u’ shape on top of the black circles. I make this shape just under halfway on the circle, as you can see below.
