Fidough Crochet Pattern Assembly

Assembly:

First off, let’s attach the muzzle to the bottom half of the head. I find it helps with the placement here to pin on the neck roll, just to get a better visualisation of how the muzzle will sit.

Now you can attach the neck roll! Try to really nestle it into the doughnut indent you made earlier.

Next, pin on both the body and front feet. The placement here is important: the body should be at the back of the neck roll, with space at the front so you can still fit the feet in. It might be a bit of a tight squeeze but you should be able to get everything on there! After checking the placement, sew on the body and then the front feet.
Sew up the opening on the back legs before pinning them onto the body to check their placement and that they are even. Once you’re happy, sew them on securely!

Now attach the ears on either side of the head. Since they’re so big the placement for these should be fairly easy!

Now you can start on the tail. Sew the bottom tail piece on first to the back of the body, followed by the top piece.
Finally, the finishing touch is the nose! Sew it onto the top half of the muzzle to complete the assembly.

Needle Felting:

The needle felting process for this project isn’t too difficult, so don’t worry of you’re a beginner! It is, however, very time consuming – I think it might have taken me even longer to felt than it did to crochet and assemble all the pieces! Don’t be discouraged, though. Just keep chipping away and I’m sure you’ll be done in no time! Let’s start first with the neck roll. The felting here comprises of a large semi-circle on both the front and back of Fidough, with two smaller semi-circles on each side in between. Using your yellow wool roving, start off with the front and slowly work your way out to make sure it is symmetrical. Refer to the pictures below if you’re unsure! While you’re round the back, you can also felt the little detail on Fidough’s tail. It’ll be good practice for the felting on the ears and head as they follow a similar process: create a circle on the top tail piece, then slowly add the semi-circles around the outside until you have a full ‘flower’ shape. Felt around the edge on the bottom tail piece.
With the neck roll and tail done, now all the work is on the ears and face! Let’s start with the ears. Similar to the tail, felt a circle with yellow wool roving first, then add in the semi-circles or ‘petals’ to make your flower shape. Repeat this method for both ears. Then, you can add the extra swirly bun detail using your brown wool roving. Use the photos below for reference!
The top of the head also follows a similar process of felting a circle and adding semi-circles around the edge using yellow wool roving. Start in the middle so you can ensure that everything is even!
Finally, the face. First use your black wool roving to create the eye shape, before using the white to create the light reflection in the eye.
Next, you can create the eyebrows. I used a little more yellow wool roving for this part in order to make the eyebrows stick out a bit! Although this isn’t on the actual pokemon, I decided to add little blush cheeks underneath the eyes, so if this is something you want to add too, then go for it!
One final touch I decided to add was a little tongue. ch 1 using yellow yarn (I just used some scrap yarn I had on hand!) and fasten off. Sew this onto the muzzle to create a tongue. If you don’t fancy that, you could also create a little mouth using needle felting and the official pokemon art for reference!

Thanks for reading and following along with my Fidough crochet pattern! I hope you enjoyed the pattern and I’d love to see your finished product. Tag me on my Twitter or Instagram if you made it to the end!
